Here are some questions that we get frequently asked at Serviceman Cromwell in Huntingdon:

  • How often do I need an MOT?

Legally you need to have an MOT once a year after your vehicle is three years old. The inspection is designed to ensure that your car is safe for the road and environmentally sound.

  • What happens if my car fails its MOT test?

You will be given a certificate of why your vehicle has failed its MOT. Once these issues outlined have been resolved by a car garage such as ourselves, you will then be given an MOT certificate that shows the vehicle has passed its test.

  • How often should I get my car serviced?

Most garages would recommend a service every 12,000 miles or every 12 months, depending on which came first.

An interim service is also available every six months or every 6,000 miles if you want your vehicle to perform to its maximum.

  • What happens if I get a warning light on my car?

A warning light means that there is some sort of fault with your vehicle. It may be a major or a minor problem. Different makes of vehicles have different warning lights so you need to consult your manual to see the nature of the problem. If you have any doubts, bring it to our garage and we will sort it out for you.

  • What are the most common types of problems?

From low tyre pressure to a dying battery, a warning light on your vehicle could mean anything, so always consult your manual if this happens.

Underperformance may occur if it is taking time to start up your vehicle.

Brakes grinding is usually an indication that your brake pads are wearing away. These should be replaced at a garage as soon as possible and you should definitely not just ignore this sound if you hear it.
